Colts Baseball

Colts Baseball is a Coronado’s summer league team that competes with other area high school summer teams in the West Texas Baseball League (WTBL). Colts Baseball is exclusively for those players who do NOT participate on a travel or select baseball club team during the summer. It is geared to give these players the opportunity to continue their development as a baseball player.

Colts Baseball does not receive financial support from the Coronado Baseball Booster Club, but it does enlist the help of Booster Club Volunteers to organize the teams as well as schedule games. Player-Parents do NOT coach but are selected to be team liaisons. All Colts baseball teams are coached by Coronado Mustang baseball alumni.

Teams typically will be organized according to ability and baseball developmental stages. There are two squads: Gold (Novice/Intermediate) and Red (Intermediate/Advanced). All incoming freshmen will be on the Gold squad. Each team plays about a 20-game schedule against opponents comparable to their skill level. Games may begin during the last week of school and the season usually will not extend beyond June 30th. It is possible that games may be rescheduled, or even cancelled. Since this is a developmental league, players will most likely be sharing playing time with other teammates at their position and therefore should make good use of their time on the field. Every player on the field is being studied and evaluated.

You MUST be a student enrolling or currently enrolled at Coronado High School in order to participate in Colts baseball. Players who are undecided about where they will be attending high school will NOT be eligible to participate. There will be no exceptions. We encourage players who are eligible and interested to play high school baseball to participate. Roster spots may be limited if there is excessive interest to play.
